Our ladies travelled to Brynhyfrid Bowls Club last week to take on West Glamorgan in their opening fixture of the season.
This was a very strong performance overall, Wiltshire taking the spoils on 5 out of the 6 rinks, the only loss being a very marginal one on the rink skipped by Lesley Tratttles, 20 shots to 16.
Susan Griffiths and Babs Salter’s quartets were both involved in tight tussles but managed to come away with wins by 3 and 4 shots respectively. There were more comfortable victories recorded by Lynda Whittingham and Janice Rowe, who both won their respective rinks by 11 shots each. The highest shot difference recorded on the day was by Joan Coleman’s foursome, who produced an excellent final 6 ends to score 10 shots without reply, pulling away to a 24-9 win.
Overall, a 38 shot victory, 134-96, and a great start to the season. Well done to all involved.
