Pewsey Vale BC have dedicated the opening of their new clubhouse extension and kitchen on 12th May 2017 having obtained a grant and a very generous legacy from one of their members. Along with Officers and members of Pewsey Vale they were joined by BW Chair, June Corbett, and BWL President, Mo Woolley, for drinks and refreshments to mark the occasion.

Brian has received over a 100 Sympathy cards from bowlers and would like to express his thanks to everyone for their very kind thoughts at this very sad time for him and his family.
Please be informed that Mrs. Sue Raymond wife of Brian Raymond, passed away suddenly at home on 10th. May 2016.
My mother played Bowls in and around Chippenham since the 1970s and was a well known figure. She would speak with pride about her year as Ladies (WCWBA) President in 2008.
She was immensely proud of her achievements as Singles Champion of Wiltshire in 1982 and Pairs champions of Wiltshire with Molly Baker in 1985.
I would be grateful if this news could be passed to your members and will pass on details of the funeral arrangements when they have been finalised.
I have attached a lovely photograph of my Mother.
Corsham Bowls Club held a Fun Day on Saturday afternoon (7th May). The event went very well and 27 individuals attended along with many members – with a cross section of ages, genders and one person with special needs. We hope that some of these people will attend our follow up sessions which take place on Monday evenings from 16th May.
On the ‘flyers’ that we put in letterboxes around Corsham, we also advertised our ‘introductory sessions’ which take place on Tuesday evenings from the start of the season. Seven prospective members turned up for the first session and they have all attended the three subsequent sessions – so we are hopeful of recruitment from there.
Thanks to the BDA, Dominique of WASP and BW.
A report from Devizes BC
On Saturday 7th May we held our annual Open Day from 10am – 1pm. From the very start the room was full of people – first of all there was a great group of members who had generously given up their time to help to introduce our visitors to the game we all love to play. Then, from 10am there was a constant flow of prospective bowlers – all keen to see what the game is all about. Each one was allocated to a ‘host’ and guided through the necessary paperwork before being helped with equipment and taken onto the green to ‘have a go’. There was a constant supply of tea and coffee and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves – there was plenty of chatter and activity in the room and on both greens throughout the entire morning.
A big thank you must go to all the members who helped both on the greens and in the clubhouse – we could not have run the event without you so your contribution was invaluable. We had approximately 40 visitors and more than 30 of them are planning to attend the follow up coaching sessions over the next few weeks so this was a hugely successful morning. Thank you everyone!!
This event was run as a BDA Silver Package Event.

Last night 18 April North Wilts Bowls Club held a successful Just One event. It was the opening of the outdoor green for this season and members were asked to bring along a friend. All the 6 rinks were filled with existing members, a rink of indoor players trying the outdoor game for the first time and a rink of beginners. After playing everyone enjoyed refreshments of soup and hot dogs, the evening was completed with a raffle which raised funds for Sport Relief.
