Success for the Men’s Under 25’s

I’m pleased to report a successful start to the season for the Bowls Wiltshire U25s.

After beating Somerset on all 3 rinks at Chippenham Town BC on 28 April, we retained the Four Counties Tournament yesterday in Wootton Bassett, after winning on individual rinks against each of the 3 opposing counties.

Scorecard photos are shown below. Mike Titcombe’s rink managed a comfortable 25-8 win over Gloucestershire, a county which reached the semi finals of last year’s White Rose competition. Rinks skipped by Adam Bolwell and Tom Newman came from behind to beat Somerset and Worcestershire respectively.

We have a further 3-rink fixture to follow versus Oxfordshire at Kidlington BC at 2.30pm next Sunday, 12 May.

Best Regards,

Adam Tanner

U25 SWC vs Somerset Result

Match report from Team Manager, Adam Tanner:

I’m pleased to report another strong win for our male U25s in the South West Counties League.

Rinks skipped by Craig Hatherall (26-15) and Chris Poole (22-20) both won. Although Craig Morphet’s rink was eventually beaten 27-21 by Chris Spurrey, an England U25 back-ender, it led for around half of the game.

We won the match 69-62 on shots, 10-2 on points, and have therefore scored 22 of a possible 24 points against competitive teams from Devon and Somerset.

We now move on to play Cornwall at Culm Vale BC in Devon next Sunday, 23 July. The team will shortly be confirmed.

U25 South West Counties vs Devon Result

Report from Team Manager, Adam Tanner:

I’m very pleased to report an excellent win over Devon in our opening South West Counties fixture versus Devon at Taunton Deane BC on Sunday.

Although Chris Poole’s rink was a player short due to a late dropout, and therefore needed to have a quarter of their score withdrawn, they still won 24.75 – 12. Michael Titcombe won 29-12 and Craig Morphet won 27-14.

There is no such thing as an easy game versus Devon but, as reflected by the scores, the performances and attitudes of our players were excellent. High standards continued to the very end (partly because the rinks were quietly competing between themselves to see which could manage the highest margin!).

Our next fixture comes at Clevedon BC versus Somerset on 15 July, and a team will be circulated soon.

Rink scores:

David Murray/Jamie Shadwell/Chris Poole (1 player short) beat S Apsey 24.75 – 12

Nathan Richards/John Hermon/James Vincent/Mike Titcombe beat C Thompson 29-12

Jordan Moody/Isaac Jacobs/James Richman/Craig Morphet beat J Tinham 27-14
