Youth Academy Update
First of all I would just like to thank all of you who played yesterday in the Wilts Academy U18s friendly game against Carterton – what a wonderful afternoon! Thank you also to your parents for their continued support.
You all demonstrated some great bowling skills, teamwork and most importantly, you encouraged each other when you were faced with a challenge. Although the score didn’t really matter, it was a great win of 59-54 in a what turned out to be a very closely contested game!
Well done again to our 3 medal winners yesterday:
- All-round Bowler of the Week – Charlie
- Value of the Week – Emmeline
- Shot of the Week – Zoe
The visiting players and supporters from Carterton were all extremely impressed and we have agreed to make this an ongoing fixture with both an indoor and outdoor game each season (home & away). In fact they were so delighted with the day that they are keen to get in a return visit at the end of March this year – I’ll be in touch with more information in due course.
Finally, I would again like to express our sincere thanks to Westlecot Bowls Club, and in particular to Scott for his support yesterday afternoon.
Next Week’s Academy
Just a couple of reminders:
- this is our last indoor Academy skills session this season. Please can you be at Westlecot at 9.45am so we can start by 10am. The session finishes at 12.
- can you all please remember to bring back your county indoor shirts if you took them home yesterday; we need them back in.
- and to our medal winners … please don’t forget to bring them back next week so these can be re-awarded.
U18s Inter-county matches
I know a few of you were enquiring about the details of the U18s inter-county matches next month. Just to confirm that Danny will be touch with people directly for those bowling in these events.
11th February at Dolphin IBC; 25th February at Yeovil IBC
We understand that it is a long way to travel to some of these matches, but if you can go and support your teammates who are playing and representing your county it would be wonderful. The other counties always seem to bring a coachful of supporters with them :-).
Many thanks and see you all next week.
