BW men enjoyed an excellent afternoon at Box Bowls Club against a strong team representing the Vale of Glamorgan Bowls Association, who won on four rinks while BW won on two.
Grateful thanks to everyone at Box who helped make the day such a success, even though we came second!
Special thanks to Maurice Byron and John Hurle who turned out at very short notice when two members of the team unfortunately had to withdraw at the last minute.

BWM U25 SWC v Somerset 16th July

A report from Adam

We enjoyed a really good battle with a strong Somerset team during Saturday’s South West Counties League game. We led overall for much of the match, but eventually needed a great last bowl from Michael Titcombe to trail the jack for 4 shots and tie the main 3-rink fixture at 63-63. To demonstrate what a close game it was, we won two rinks by one shot and lost the other rink by two shots, giving us a 7-5 overall win on points.

BW Greenkeepers Competition

On Monday 18th July the BW Greenkeepers Competition was held at Devizes BC. Summer had arrived for the occasion and it was a very hot day with the greens running extremely fast. There were 29 entries and there was a Plate Competition for those who lost in their first game. The winner of the Plate Competition was Ron Read from North Wilts and the two Finalists of the main Competition are Gary Jackson from Westlecot and Colin Little from Devizes and they will play at the Domestic Finals Weekend on September 10th/11th at Devizes BC.

A BIG thank you to the members of Devizes BC who gave up their time to cook, man the Bar, set up the greens and mark several games in the heat.A good day was had by all.
